The history of Sanibel becoming a city and CHR! CHR formed in 1979 as a nonprofit to address the growing need for affordable housing on Sanibel.. It was in 1983 that an ordinance was passed by the city that established the Affordable Housing program, and CHR was designated as the city’s housing foundation. Hear about what this all means for the Sanibel community and its residents.

Remembering somewhat true stories of Sanibel that many would like to forget! Disclaimer: Names may be changed to protect the alleged suspects and characters. Ty Symroski, whose family started coming to Sanibel over 100 years ago and has three buildings in the Historical Village, has many fun, funny, serious, and dubious stories to tell about people from “back in the day.” You will have to make your own decision regarding these stories’ levels of veracity!
