RESERVE EARLY FOR HISTORICAL VILLAGE FUNDRAISING GALA

December 27, 2018 – The gala fundraiser for the Sanibel Historical Village will be held on Tuesday, February 19, at The Community House. This year’s theme, “An Evening on the Old Algiers,” continues the tradition of highlighting and celebrating a memorable aspect of Sanibel’s history. The story of the Algiers harkens back to a time when Sanibel’s growing tourist industry was emerging with simple seaside fun and the thrill of beautiful seashells.

“The story of the Algiers is one that fascinates visitors to the village,” said Emilie Alfino, executive director. “It’s a ship that had three lives: it started out as a workhorse boat to haul automobiles, then was transformed into a glamorous mansion, and finally became an abandoned wreck due to the heartache of its owner.”

The gala will feature a buffet dinner and dancing to the music of Kelly and Shelly, popular favorites who will be coming back this year. Seating is limited, and the village gala traditionally sells out. People are encouraged to reserve early. Attendance is by reservation only. Tickets are $135 each. To receive an invitation, call 472-4648 or reserve online at www.sanibelmuseum.org.

Event sponsorships are available. For more information, contact Alfino at 472-4648.

The following sponsors have committed their support to 2019’s An Evening on the Old Algiers: Sanibel-Captiva Trust Co., Wayne and Linda Boyd, the Garlinghouse Foundation, Bank of the Islands, Allegra Marketing Print Mail, Rodd and Gerry Verblaauw, and Congress Jewelers.
