January 29, 2020 – The Sanibel Historical Museum & Village last year held a Twilight Talk about the history of Periwinkle Park. Since then, there have been many requests by people who are interested in viewing the video of the event.

The video, marked April 2019, is the first video on the left. It runs almost 1-1/2 hours.
“We hope many people, particularly those who live in Periwinkle Park, will take advantage of this opportunity to watch this interesting program about the Park’s history,” said Executive Director Emilie Alfino. Other Twilight Talks are also available on the website by following the same instructions.
Two more Twilight Talks are scheduled for the remainder of the season. Both talks will be at The Community House and begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased by calling Emilie Alfino at (239) 472-4648.
On March 11, we will hear from people “Locally Homegrown on Sanibel.” Sanibel children of the 1950s will join the Rushworth family and friends and hear from patriarch Jack Rushworth about growing up on Sanibel in the “old days.”
On April 7, we will hear “Fish (& Fishy!) Stories of Sanibel, remembering somewhat true stories of Sanibel that many would like to forget! Disclaimer: Names may be changed to protect the alleged suspects and characters! Ty Symroski, whose family started coming to Sanibel more than 100 years ago – and has three buildings in the Historical Village – has many fun, funny, serious, and dubious stories to tell about people from “back in the day.” Attendees will have to make their own decisions regarding these stories’ levels of veracity!
The Sanibel Historical Museum and Village is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Full guided tours take place at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at no additional charge, depending on docent availability. The Sanibel Historical Village is located at 950 Dunlop Road (next to BIG ARTS) and there is handicap access. Admission is $10 for adults over 18. Members and children are free. There is handicap access.
