HISTORICAL VILLAGE DRAWS MORE THAN 200 TO PRE-LUMINARY OPEN HOUSE

December 14, 2021 – The Sanibel Historical Village hosted a pre-luminary open house December 3 with more than 200 people attending. There was free admission from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. as visitors toured the holiday exhibit featuring themed decorations and timelines displaying the lives of the village’s nine authentic historical buildings.

The exhibit, “Trees, Timelines, & Special Memories,” runs through the first week of January.

After doing extensive research on each of the village’s buildings, volunteers found that most of them were used for several different purposes before they were moved to the village. They found it fascinating to discover each building’s complete history.

Timelines will be on exhibit in each of the village’s nine buildings. The holiday trees and exhibits will reflect the items found on the timelines. This holiday exhibit will offer a whole new layer of island history never before shared at the village.

Sanibel Historical Museum and Village is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Sanibel Historical Village is located at 950 Dunlop Road (next to BIG ARTS) and there is handicap access to eight of the nine buildings. Admission is FREE for SHMV members and $15 for non-members (adults ages 18 years and up).  For more information, call 472-4648 during museum hours or visit www.sanibelmuseum.org.
