The Sanibel Historical Museum & Village Board of Directors is pleased to announce its new Executive Director, Ms. Vacharee Howard (Vah-shah-REE).
The Sanibel Historical Museum and Village announces it will close to the public starting April 27, 2026. Tours will be available again on October 15, 2026.
The Sanibel Historical Museum and Village has engaged Soukup Strategic Solutions, a Southwest Florida–based consulting firm that advises nonprofit organizations nationwide on governance, fundraising strategy, and organizational leadership, to conduct an organizational assessment and provide interim executive leadership support.
On Monday, March 9th, the volunteers at the Sanibel Historical Museum and Village will have an opportunity to learn the “real story” of Punta Rassa from the grandchildren of Leon Crumpler and Clyde Riddle.
Before tourism, theme parks, and booming cities, there was the Florida Cracker. “Crackers” are named from the sharp crack of long braided whip used by Florida cowmen to drive cattle through dense brush.
The Village announces expanded hours beginning Wednesday, January 7. Daily volunteer guided tour upon availability at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Join the Museum & Village for a great old Florida experience on Friday, January 30, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at the Sanibel Community House. This year’s benefit will be full of fun opportunities.
Author Richard (Rick) Lee Cronin will share his book, “The Rutland Mule Matter” on Tuesday, January 20th in the Village’s Shore Haven House at 4:00pm. Tickets are $20 and are available to purchase on our website or at the Shore Haven Welcome Desk.
The Sanibel Historical Museum & Village Twilight Talks Series Presentation of Ken Sneeden’s documentary SECRETS AND STORIES OF THE SANIBEL LIGHTHOUSE to be shown at Shore Haven on Tuesday, December 16.
The Village announces its annual holiday celebration, A Sanibel Cracker Christmas, begins on Friday, December 5th with a pre-Luminary Open House at The Village from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. FREE event.
