Now Hiring: Operations Coordinator
Part-Time | $25 per hour | Non-Exempt
The Sanibel Historical Museum & Village is seeking an organized, dependable, and welcoming Operations Coordinator to deliver an exceptional visitor experience while supporting the Village’s daily operations.
The Village comprises nine historic buildings dating from 1896 to 1927, along with several additional structures dedicated to preserving and sharing Sanibel’s history. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Operations Coordinator will help prepare the Village for tours and programs, staff the Welcome Desk, coordinate volunteer docents, process admissions and gift shop sales, and provide administrative support.
Primary Responsibilities
- Open and close buildings and prepare the Village for visitors, tours, and programs.
- Welcome and orient visitors.
- Process admissions, merchandise, memberships, and program registrations.
- Coordinate scheduled docent volunteers and provide daily direction.
- Monitor and report safety, security, cleanliness, maintenance, and repair concerns.
- Operate video and audiovisual exhibits.
- Respond to telephone calls, email, and mail.
- Maintain files, records, office supplies, and an organized Welcome Desk.
- Assist with programs, events, and volunteer training.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in customer service, office administration, hospitality, retail, tourism, nonprofit work, visitor services, or museum operations.
- Strong communication, organization, and computer skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Experience handling financial transactions accurately and responsibly.
- A friendly, professional, and service-oriented approach.
- An interest in Sanibel history, historic preservation, museums, or cultural tourism.
The position requires the ability to move between historic buildings, navigate varied outdoor surfaces and stairs, stand or walk for portions of the workday, and lift or carry up to 25 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
Schedule
Hours and dates vary and may include weekdays, weekends, and occasional evenings for programs and community events. The Museum is generally open Wednesday through Sunday, mid-October through July.
