[vc_single_image image=”5250″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1641333429138{margin-bottom: 30px !important;}”]January 4, 2022 – The Sanibel Historical Village and the Sanibel-Captiva Art League are excited to announce the first Sanibel-Captiva Art League plein air exhibit this season. Members of the Art League over the past months have been painting plein air (in the outdoors) on the historical village property. Paintings displayed will showcase the various historical structures. Works are done in watercolor, acrylic, gouache (opaque watercolor), and oil.

“The artists have been working hard to capture the essence of the historical village in their paintings. Visitors will see a wide variety of styles and subject matter in the show,” said Susan Anderson, chairperson of the show. All artwork is ready to hang and will travel easily.

The exhibit runs February 5 through 24 in the Shore Haven building at the historical village. The art show is open to the public at no charge. Admission to the historical village is available for the regular $10 fee per adult. The exhibit and historical village are open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Art League plein air painters meet weekly on Thursday mornings on both Sanibel and Captiva as well as Fort Myers from October to May. The group gathers to paint the local landscape scenery and architecture.

Sanibel Historical Museum and Village is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Sanibel Historical Village is located at 950 Dunlop Road (next to BIG ARTS) and there is handicap access to eight of the nine buildings. Admission is FREE for SHMV members and $15 for non-members (adults ages 18 years and up).  For more information, call 472-4648 during museum hours or visit www.sanibelmuseum.org.
